The Astrology of 2026
What’s written in the stars for 2026?
Reviewing the upcoming year’s astrology has become a tradition and ritual for myself and my clients. It’s useful, interesting, reassuring, inspiring, and often validating to see the once-in-a-lifetime transits coming up, or the end of a challenging cycle on the horizon. As I researched the astrological calendar for 2026, I began to see curious connections happening around planetary ingressions and retrogrades. I recommend pulling up your own natal chart to follow where these transits will occur (in which House).
Please note: All times below are calculated for EST.
January 2026 Astrology
The first ingression of the year is Mercury’s move into Capricorn on New Year’s Day. Days later is a New Moon at 13 degrees of Cancer, exact at 5:03 a.m. on January 3. Mid-month, the domain of Fixed Air—where Pluto is in a long term transit—gets lit up by all of the personal planets. On January 17, Venus ingresses into Aquarius. On January 20, Mercury and the Sun move into Aquarius, and three days after that (January 23), so does Mars. Though the personal planets travel at similar speeds and are often found in the same or nearby signs, this is the only month all year that Venus, Mars, and Mercury will be exactly aligned in one zodiac. This will be a very active time for those with fixed sign placements, especially Aquarius. On January 26, Neptune ingresses into Aries after a brief Retrograde to the Anaretic degree of Pisces.
February 2026 Astrology
February is an active month astrologically with an eclipse, outer planets stationing direct, and the year’s first Mercury Retrograde. Kicking off the month is Uranus stationing direct at 27 degrees of Taurus at 9:33 p.m. on February 3. Days later on February 6, Mercury moves into Pisces and on February 10, so does Venus. Through 2027, Neptune and Saturn remain in sync, and until this ends, a transit to one will be followed by a transit to the other. On February 13, Saturn mimics Neptune’s ingress back into Aries after a brief Retrograde to the final degrees of Pisces. A shift in the eclipse energy comes into play on February 17 at 7:13 a.m. EST during a New Moon at 28° of Aquarius. This will mark the first Solar Eclipse on the fixed axis of Aquarius/Leo. Later this year will be the opposite New Moon and Solar Eclipse (in Leo.) On the 26th, Mercury stations Retrograde at 22° of Pisces. This will be the first in a series of three water sign Mercury Retrogrades in 2026.
March 2026 Astrology
Eclipses continue in March of 2026, but before that, Mars ingresses into Pisces on March 2. On March 3, a Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon at 12° of Virgo will be exact at 6:33 a.m. This eclipse will also be followed by its opposite (or sibling/sister sign) Lunar Eclipse 6 months later. Venus ingresses into not just one, but two signs this month: Aries on March 6 and Taurus (which it co-rules with Libra) on March 30. Since Venus rules not only love but money, not only material possessions but intimate connections, it would be wise to double check your spending and take care with relationships. On March 10, Jupiter stations direct at 5 degrees of Cancer. Amplifying the deep watery energy of the month is a 28 degree Pisces New Moon on March 18 at 9:23 p.m. And days later on March 20, the Vernal Equinox (aligned with the Sun’s ingression into Aries) marks the beginning of spring. Precisely at 10:45 a.m.
April 2026 Astrology
Rightfully so, the month of April has the quickest pace of the months on this list so far. No eclipses, no retrogrades, and ingresses into some of the liveliest zodiac signs. On April 1, a Full Moon at 12° of Libra kicks off the month with a call to release. This could be related to a relationship, a secret truth, or some form of justice. Mars ingresses into Aries on April 9, and is joined on April 14 by Mercury. Passionate conversations and even a sense of competitiveness could result. This month’s New Moon takes place on April 17 at 7:52 a.m., at 27° of Aries. New Moons represent both endings and beginnings, and are considered peak times to set intentions. The month closes out with two ingressions into Mutable Gemini: Venus on the 24th and Uranus on the 25th. Spend that weekend exploring a cool new local spot, or make a new friend! Uranus continues its transit through Gemini for the next seven years.
May 2026 Astrology
Energy is mounting as we head into May of 2026, which starts off with one of the month’s two Full Moons. The first is exact at 1:23 p.m. on May 1 at 11 degrees of Scorpio. The next day, Mercury ingresses into Taurus for a very brief period. Very brief. On May 6, Pluto stations Retrograde at 5 degrees of Aquarius. Though we’ll see many more Pluto Retrogrades in Aquarius through 2044, none will take the planet of transformation, psychology, and power out of sign. On May 16, we have a stabilizing New Moon at 25° of Taurus. The next day (May 17), Mercury visits domicile Gemini after two short weeks in Fixed Earth. Mars moves into Taurus on May 18, while Venus moves ahead to Cancer. Just a mere 41 minutes after Venus makes this ingression into Cancer, the Moon joins her. I’m a romantic, but this sounds like the makings of a great date night. On the very last day of the month (May 31), the second Full Moon occurs at 9° of Sagittarius, exact at 4:45 a.m.
June 2026 Astrology
The month of June kicks off with Mercury’s ingression into Cancer on June 1. Later in the month on June 29, Mercury stations Retrograde at 26 degrees of Cancer. Between that time, Venus continues its journey through the signs, moving into the fiery domain of Leo on June 13. This is followed the next day by a New Moon at 24° of Gemini on June 14. Seasons change as the Summer Solstice reaches exactitude on June 21 at 4:24 a.m., aligned with the start of Cancer season. A week later, Mars ingresses into Gemini on June 28. For those that are accident prone, this is a time to exercise a little care around sharp corners. The month’s Full Moon is exact at 7:57 p.m. on June 29, occurring at 8 degrees of Capricorn. Finally, Jupiter, the planet of expansion, journeys, and knowledge, ends its year-long cycle in Cardinal Water and ingresses into fixed fire sign Leo on June 30.
July 2026 Astrology
July gives some respite after so much astrological activity. On July 7, Neptune stations Retrograde at 4 degrees of Aries. It’s joined later in the month by synced up Saturn, which stations Retrograde at 14 degrees of Aries on July 26. Only one ingress (other than the Sun and Moon), when Venus moves into Virgo on July 9. The lunar cycles this month take place in air and water signs, with a New Moon in Cancer at 21 degrees exact at 5:44 a.m. on July 14. The last transit of the month is a Full Moon at 6° of Aquarius, exact on July 29 at 10:36 a.m.
August 2026 Astrology
Four planetary ingressions happen in August ‘26, including two by Mercury. The first ingression of the month is August 6, when Venus moves into Libra, which it co-rules with Taurus. Mercury moves ahead to Leo on August 9, and Mars moves into Cancer on August 11. Mars will not have a single retrograde this year. The first of two eclipses this month occurs at 1:37 p.m. on August 12, with a New Moon and Solar Eclipse at 20° of Leo. On August 25, Mercury makes an ingression forward to Fixed Water Scorpio. A Lunar Eclipse in and Full Moon at 4° of Pisces closes out the eclipse cycle for the entire year. It will be exact at 12:18 a.m. on August 28.
September 2026 Astrology
Summer wanes as September approaches, and the Cardinal and Fixed energies intensify. Several significant transits all land on the exact same day, September 10: Venus ingresses into Scorpio, Mercury ingresses into Libra, and a New Moon at 18 degrees of Virgo. Aligned with the start of Libra season (the sign of balance), the Autumn Equinox is exact at 8:05 p.m. on September 22. On this day, daylight and darkness are experienced equally. On September 26 at 12:49 p.m., the moon is full at 3° of Aries. The next day, Mars moves into dignified Leo on September 27, a strong position for the fire-ruled planet. Quick-moving Mercury moves into Scorpio on September 30, closing out the month’s transits.
October 2026 Astrology
The progress of Venus through the signs comes to a halt on October 3 when the planet stations Retrograde at 8 degrees of Scorpio. Later in the month, Mercury also stations Retrograde in Scorpio (20 degrees) on October 24. On October 10, a 17° Libra New Moon comes to exactitude at 11:50 a.m. Mid-month, Pluto stations direct at 3 degrees of Aquarius on October 15. Due to its Retrograde transit, on October 25, Venus moves back to Libra. Take a look at where 22 to 29° of Libra falls in your birth chart for personalized insight on this Retrograde. For me, this falls in my 10th and 11th Houses, home to my 28° Libra Mercury. The final lunation of the month falls on October 26 with Full Moon at 2° of Taurus, exact at 12:12 a.m.
November 2026 Astrology
November, like July, has less ingressions and Retrogrades than the months before or after. The month’s first lunar event is a New Moon at 16° of Scorpio, exact at 2:02 a.m. on November 9. On November 13, the planet of love stations direct at 22° of Libra. If you took my advice in the previous month, you’ll know what area of your chart Venus is paying a third and second visit as it progresses on. This month’s 2° Gemini Full Moon is exact at 9:53 p.m. on November 24. The next day (November 25), Mars ingresses into Virgo, amplifying the Mutable energy of Sagittarius season.
December 2026 Astrology
Just like that, December arrives once again. On December 4, Venus moves into Scorpio, revisiting 0-8° of Scorpio where the planet was Retrograde two months prior. Two days later (December 6) Mercury moves into Mutable Fire, followed by a New moon at 16° of Sagittarius on December 8 (exact at 7:52 p.m.) The tango between Saturn and Neptune is apparent once again, when both planets station Retrograde in Aries. Saturn on December 10 at 7 degrees, and Neptune on December 12 at 1 degree. This month’s Full Moon is exact at 8:28 p.m. on December 23, occurring at 2° of Cancer. Curiously, the last two full moons of 2026 both occur at 2° and the last two new moons at 16 degrees. Mirroring the first transit of the year, the last ingression of 2026 is Mercury’s move into Capricorn on December 25.
